Ambassador of Ghana, Kingdom of Morocco
Her Excellency Mrs. Charity Gbedawo is an accomplished career diplomat, with more than twenty-seven years of experience in the diplomatic service.
On 25th June 2024 H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana commissioned Mrs. Charity Gbedawo as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana to the Kingdom of Morocco.
At the time of her appointment as Ambassador, Mrs. Charity Gbedawo was the Deputy Head of Mission at the Ghana High Commission in Ottawa, Canada.
Ambassador Mrs. Gbedawo has also previously undertaken various overseas assignments, including at the Ghana Embassy in Algiers where she served as the Deputy Head of Mission and at different levels at the Ghana Embassy in Tel Aviv, Ghana High Commission in Abuja and Ghana Permanent Mission to the Africa Union in Addis Ababa.
In November 2020, Ambassador Gbedawo became the first Director of the newly created Africa Bilateral at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a position she diligently held till her posting to Ottawa in October 2022. Her other assignments at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration since she started off as a career diplomat in January 1997 include the Multilateral, Policy Planning & Research, Americas, Administration, Europe, Middle East, NEPAD, Internal Audit & Inspectorate, Economic Trade and Investment Bureaux.
Ambassador Gbedawo is an alumnus of the University of Ghana and holds a master’s degree in international Affairs at the Legon Center for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD) and Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages.
Ambassador Gbedawo is fluent in English and French and has also participated in several professional courses, including diplomatic practice, management and administration.
As a representative of her country, she is constantly seeking new opportunities to strengthen existing relationships between countries, create new ones, and to contribute to the advancement of international cooperation.
Ambassador Gbedawo is married and blessed with a child. She loves reading, gardening, cooking and listening to music.
